‘Nervous Excitement’ Hits $50,000 Powerball Winner

Harford County resident wins big in March 18 drawing

A Forest Hill man who enjoys playing both Powerball and Mega Millions experienced wins in the two games on consecutive nights in March. His five-figure Powerball win was substantially the larger of the two!

After winning $1 on a Mega Millions ticket in the March 17 drawing, his Powerball ticket delivered a $50,000 prize the next night. He discovered his tremendous good fortune when he checked the numbers the day after the drawing.

“It was kind of nerve-wracking,” said the self-employed Harford County resident. “I went online and saw the numbers, and it was just a nervous excitement when I saw how many I had. I must have checked the ticket four or five times, and then, the next day, I checked it another two or three times.”

The single line of numbers on his $2 quick-pick ticket matched four of the five white balls that were drawn on March 18, plus the red Power Ball. The excited winner said he signed the back of the ticket immediately after realizing that he’d won $50,000. The ticket then spent a couple of weeks sitting among other Powerball and Mega Millions tickets on a table in his house.

“I had to be careful I didn’t accidentally throw it away,” he said.

The lucky winner plays the two big jackpot games on a regular basis, but said this is by far the largest prize he’s ever won. He doesn’t have any special plans for his winnings, but said he’s likely to pay off some bills with the money. He bought his winning ticket at Ronnie’s Beverage Warehouse, located at 1514 Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill.
