Lucky Silver Spring woman wins top prize on $50,000 Gold Rush game
A new Maryland resident just found her golden ticket to a big pay day hiding in the three Maryland Lottery scratch-offs she randomly selected and purchased at a local liquor store.
The married 34-year-old stopped by Maryland Farms Super Liquors in Beltsville. Not familiar with Lottery games, the novice player selected three $50,000 Gold Rush instant tickets and was in anything but a rush to scratch them off. Instead, she kept them in her purse for the next five days! When she finally scratched them off at home, the Silver Spring resident thought she had a $5,000 winner and went to the retailer to confirm her prize. Instead, she got even better news! The federal government employee had found the game’s last $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
Her lucky Prince George’s County retailer located at 11450 Cherry Hill Road in Beltsville also benefits from her win. Maryland Farms Super Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket. The Gold Rush family of scratch-off games still has top prizes available in the $1, $2 and $10 games and they all have plenty of other unclaimed prizes.
