It was a sweltering summer day when a Charles County man found a cool $50,000 prize. The Newburg resident was purchasing some cold drinks for friends when he also decided to buy a $5 Aces High scratch-off ticket. When one of the emblems on the scratch-off ticket matched the ‘winning cards’ on the game, the 39-year-old became $50,000 richer.
The winner wasn’t nervous, appearing cool and collected when he and his mother met with Lottery officials to confirm the win. “I’m happy for him,” said the mother. The winning ticket was purchased at Hardesty’s Inn on Crain Highway in Newburg. The Aces High scratch-off still has two top-prizes remaining.
