Big Play Crossword scratch-off pays off for lucky player
A Waldorf homemaker was nearly out of words when she finally puzzled her way to a $10,000 win on a Maryland Lottery Big Play Crossword scratch-off.
The 52-year-old was relaxing one evening with a couple of the $10 instant tickets she had picked up at the Hughesville Sunoco at 8144 Leonardtown Road in Hughesville. Suddenly, she began to match several of the words on her ticket’s crossword board. “When I got to seven words, that’s when I knew I had something,” she said.
The Charles County woman eventually discovered nine complete words for the win. Filled with excitement, the happy homemaker was quick to share the good news with her family. “I called my niece and then my brothers,” she said. Proud of her simple life, the winner plans to put all of her prize into her savings account.
There are still five $100,000 top prizes and 14 $10,000 prizes remaining on the scratch-off, which went on sale in December.
