Wins $10K Ravens Cash Fantasy Internet Promotion Prize

A retired law enforcement officer from Nottingham received the best Christmas gift imaginable when his doctor told him he was “cancer free” last Thursday. Little did he know that while he was at the doctor appointment, his name was selected from more than 18,000 entries to win $10,000.

When he came home, Charles had a message from a Lottery official. “It was the second-best news I received that day,” he said. He quickly shared the news with his wife, and word spread to friends and family over the holiday weekend. “This is just unbelievable,” said Charles.

The lucky winner had entered his yards into the $10,000 category after hearing about it on 98 Rock. He checked out the Lottery’s Facebook page to get the rest of the details and then entered the contest five times. One of those entries was selected randomly on Thursday morning. The lucky winner says that he will use the prize winnings to pay off the balance on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

This is the third installment of the $5 Ravens Cash Fantasy ticket from the Maryland Lottery. As in previous years, each ticket features a perforated portion with a special “EXTRA YARDS” code that players can enter on This year’s ticket offers a $250,000 top prize and a chance to win $1 million in the Internet promotion. Players who enter their “EXTRA YARDS” codes on the Maryland Lottery’s website have the opportunity to win premium prizes that include a $10,000 weekly prize, season tickets for 20 years, an entire skybox for one game, a Ravens cheerleader calendar trip and numerous other Ravens-themed prizes.
