Takes home top prize on Maximum Jackpot game
An Olney mother of three is banking her $100,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery Maximum Jackpot scratch-off to finance her kids’ future college educations.
The Montgomery County winner, who is a cashier by trade, said she started scratching off the winning instant ticket just moments after purchasing it from 7-Eleven#11575 near her home.
“I usually just buy the $5 scratch-offs but when I saw that this was the last single Maximum Jackpot scratch-off ticket left on the roll, I just paid the $10 and bought it,” said the 47-year-old. “When I saw how much money the ticket was saying I had won, I just started shaking right there in the store. It was shocking.”
The lucky scratch-off player, who has three teenagers, said she’d save most of the prize for their college educations. “I may also use a very small portion of my winnings to visit family in Georgia,” she said.
Her Lottery retailer is also a winner. For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game, the 7-Eleven will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The store is located at 18120 Georgia Avenue in Olney.
Plenty of prizes still await players who buy the Maximum Jackpot instant ticket, which went on sale last May. The game has three more $100,000 top prizes, four $10,000 prizes and thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
