Stay-at-home mom goes all out with $100,000 top prize
An Arbutus stay-at-home mom who is a “Big Ravens Fan” needed gas and a few groceries last week. She jumped into her car and drove to one of her favorite Maryland Lottery retailers, an Exxon station in Elkridge. It turns out that “Big Ravens Fan” is an even bigger fan of Lottery scratch-offs.
“I don’t have a system or an idea of which scratch-offs I will play until I get to the front counter. It’s really just a feeling I get, and, when it feels right, I get a few tickets and scratch them in the store,” she said. “It’s a daily habit of mine.”
The Baltimore County winner bought several scratch-offs before getting a feeling about the new book of Ravens instant tickets the store employee loaded into a display box. She asked for two $10 Ravens scratch-offs. As she scratched one of the games, she didn’t see any matching winning numbers until she reached the last line. A lucky lightning bolt symbol made her instantly $100,000 richer!
“It was an amazing feeling,” said “Big Ravens Fan. “I told my husband and my son as soon as I could. I wanted to jump up and down but I also didn’t want to make a scene in the gas station.”
Our 43-year-old winner plans to use her prize to pay for her son’s college tuition. “My son wants to attend college here in Maryland,” said “Big Ravens Fan,” beaming with pride, “and I look forward to helping him pay for his degree.”
Her lucky retailer has a reason to celebrate this big win, too. The Exxon located at 6310 Washington Boulevard in Elkridge earned a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
