One Scratch-off Drives Trucker into Lottery Winner’s Lounge

Baltimore man wins $10,000 on Poker Showdown game

220-Poker-Showdown-ITVMA retired truck driver from Baltimore was all smiles as he rolled into Maryland Lottery headquarters on Jan. 11 to claim his $10,000 Poker Showdown prize.

The 63-year-old Lottery enthusiast was happy with his prize – and with good reason. He only spent $10 on one instant ticket and came up a big winner. He purchased his instant ticket last week at Royal Farms #169 at 6201 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore and scratched it when he got home.

“At first, I didn’t believe what I was seeing, so I asked people, look at this and tell me,” he said.

He eventually took the ticket to a retailer, scanned it at the ticket checker and got the message he’d been waiting for: “Cash at Lottery.”

“I said, ‘okie, dokie … I can do that,’” the winner said.

The lucky man doesn’t have any special plans yet for the prize and joked that he’s going to put it to good use. “I’m going to give it to some people named Bill, who come in the mail,” he said with a laugh.

The $10 Poker Showdown ticket launched in August and still has three remaining $100,000 top prizes, along with 10 more $10,000 prizes and 37 $1,000 prizes.
