Seven-home run game leads to $4,000 Home Run Riches prize

When Teressa Davies learned that she was the Home Run Riches “Contestant of the Game” for the June 2 Orioles game, she was thrilled. With her family by her side, she watched the game at home, getting more and more excited with every home run that went over the outfield wall.

“We were yelling so loud that our daughter went upstairs and our poor dog seemed a little scared,” the state employee told Lottery officials.

In the end, the Orioles hit seven home runs, just missing the franchise single-game record of eight. Teressa’s winnings totaled $4,000 — she received $500 for being selected as the “Contestant of the Game” and $500 for each home run hit by an Orioles’ player.

Today’s visit to Lottery headquarters wasn’t the first for Teressa, her husband John and their daughter Paige. Just last year, John claimed a $100,000 Jackpot scratch-off prize. Teressa and John were shocked to win again so soon.

To enter the Home Run Riches contest, players submit non-winning Home Run Riches tickets through their My Lottery Rewards accounts. The Lottery selects a “Contestant of the Game” for all 162 Baltimore Orioles regular season games in 2016.
