The “Platinum Winners” from Columbia shared a $1 million win on the $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off game!
Win with $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off
Two friends from Columbia were smiling from ear to ear as they entered Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim the first $1 million top prize on the $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off. The joyful players, calling themselves “Platinum Winners,” say they are as close as brothers and shared the win just like they share the fun of playing scratch-offs.
The two were in Pars Market in Columbia when one of them decided to purchase a $20 $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off. “I only had $10, so I asked my friend for the other $10,” said half of the “Platinum Winners” duo. “I’ve had winners on this ticket before, that’s why I chose it.”
The Columbia landscaper scratched off the instant ticket in the store, revealing the big win.
“I was in shock when I saw $1 million,” he said. “I knew I had to share this with my friend for giving me the other $10 needed to buy the ticket.”
That evening, after realizing they were $1 million richer, the “Platinum Winners” tried unsuccessfully to get a good night’s sleep. The excitement was too great! In the morning, the first thing on their minds was claiming the big prize. “Come on, let’s go to the Lottery,” said the other half of the winning team, who currently works in retail. Just like that, they were off to Baltimore!
The “Platinum Winners,” one age 30 and the other 33, are both single and have similar plans for their prize. Investments top the to-do list for their winnings, followed by travel and enjoying life. After the split and taxes, each winner took home more than $200,000!
The lucky Howard County retailer also wins. For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the $20 game, Pars Market located at 9400 Snowden River Parkway in Columbia earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
The $1,000,000 Platinum Play game still has three more $1 million top prizes, seven $50,000 prizes and 18 $10,000 prizes. With 30 chances to win, the game is packed with thousands of lower-level prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
