Owings Mills Resident Wins Big on Racetrax

Lucky winner plans to use $30,734 prize to pay for kids’ college tuition

An Owings Mills resident will have an easier time paying some important bills after winning a $30,734 prize on Racetrax, the Maryland Lottery’s computer-animated horse racing game.

The lucky winner purchased a 10, 11, 12 Trifecta ticket for 20 draws, and on the 16th of those 20 races, the horses finished in that exact order. That delivered a $30,734 payout.

“I prayed to God and then I called my wife and told her,” he said. “She didn’t believe it. She told me to check it again.”

The winner and his wife have a daughter in college and a son who will graduate high school in 2018. He said he plans to use the money to pay for college tuition.

He purchased his winning ticket at Ritchie Highway Citgo, located at 7237 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The Anne Arundel County retailer will receive a bonus of $307.34 – equal to 1 percent of the prize – for selling a winning Racetrax ticket worth $10,000 or more.
