Oxon Hill Landscaper Rolling in Green after Lottery Win

Claims $50,000 prize playing “Hit it Big” scratch-off

207-Hit-It-Big-ITVM_P1-goldAn Oxon Hill landscaper who claimed a $50,000 prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Hit it Big scratch-off is seeing lots of green these days.

His enriching Lottery experience began when the 42-year-old stopped at 925 Liquors at 2795 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. He decided to purchase some scratch-offs and chose the Hit it Big game, buying one $20 instant ticket at a time until he scratched the big winner.

“I looked at the ticket and thought, ‘I think I got it’,” he said, smiling. To confirm his $50,000 win, he scanned the ticket at the retailer and the message said to come to Baltimore to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters.

“That’s when I knew it was real,” he said.

Excited, the winner went home and shared the good news with his family. He had to wait through the long Labor Day holiday weekend before he could claim the prize. The Prince George’s County resident plans to put the prize in the bank and may purchase a truck.

There’s still one more unclaimed $1 million top prize in the Hit it Big game, which has six $10,000 prizes awaiting discovery along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
