Pair of Holiday Season Drawings Produce $50,000 Winners

Bonus Match 5 win comes on Christmas Eve; Powerball delivers on day after Christmas

A pair of drawings during last week’s holiday period produced two $50,000 winners in Westminster and Ocean City.

On Dec. 24, the Bonus Match 5 drawing delivered a $50,000 top prize on a ticket sold at Rite Aid #347, located at 7 Westminster Shopping Center in Westminster. The winner had the five winning numbers in the Christmas Eve drawing (6, 20, 32, 33 and 38). The Bonus Ball was 39. This was the 31st top-prize-winning Bonus Match 5 ticket sold during 2020. The retailer is a winner also, as the Rite Aid store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.

Meanwhile, with no one winning the $341 million Powerball jackpot in the Dec. 26 drawing, the jackpot continued to roll. But Maryland Powerball players purchased 23,277 winning tickets for Saturday’s drawing with prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000. A $50,000 third-tier winning ticket was sold at 7-Eleven #23819, located at 11911 Coastal Highway in Ocean City. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and also matched the red Powerball number. It was the 42nd third-tier-winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland during 2020. The winning numbers in the Dec. 26 drawing were 10, 24, 27, 35, 53; and the Powerball number was 18. The Power Play multiplier was x2.

Lottery officials encourage the winners to sign the backs of the tickets immediately and put them in safe locations. Winners typically get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

The winners can claim their prizes by mail or in person by appointment at the Lottery’s Customer Resource Center located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. The Lottery office is closed to the public until Jan. 4. The Powerball jackpot rolled to $363 million for the Dec. 30 drawing with a cash option of $279.2 million. The last Powerball jackpot win was for $94.8 million in the Sept. 16 drawing, with the winning ticket sold in New York.
