Part-time Marylander Pulls in $1 Million Mega Millions Win

$1 Million Winner - Mega Millions

Purchased Megaplier to increase his winnings from $250,000 to $1 million

While Marylanders anxiously wait to congratulate the latest Mega Millions jackpot winner in the state, a retired Anne Arundel County man came forward to claim the $1 million ticket sold for the Sept. 24 drawing.

The former county employee, who splits his time between Delaware and Maryland, was thrilled to discover the Mega Millions ticket he purchased on the way to the beach was worth $1 million. The lucky winner had purchased two Mega Millions tickets with the Megaplier option. His big winner, which was a Quick Pick, had the numbers 04, 11, 32, 39, 40 and Mega Ball 01.

The lucky winner explained that he is always sure to purchase Megaplier when he plays Mega Millions. “I get Megaplier because I get more money when I win. This time I got $750,000 more!”

The part-time Marylander has plans to “share the wealth” with his unsuspecting family and friends after paying off the mortgage on his new home in Delaware. “Only my wife and son know about this,” he shared. “I’d like to surprise some long-time friends and family. I really want to help some people out.”

His wife is still skeptical about the win. “She still doesn’t believe it,” he chuckled. “I had her check my ticket on the computer at home after I realized how much it was worth. It’s still a shock.”

The retailer that sold the ticket, Broadneck Exxon located at 317 Buschs Frontage Road in Annapolis, will receive an agent bonus of $2,500.
