Wins top prize playing Maryland Lottery’s Money Multiplier game
A Middletown man’s decision to run a quick party errand during a family get-together put a smile on his face and a $1 million secret in his back pocket – a winning Maryland Lottery Money Multiplier scratch-off!
The Frederick County resident traveled with a friend to Edgewood in Harford County for the family celebration. He agreed to run a quick party errand and stopped at the Edgewood Sunoco to buy some Lottery tickets.
“I was there for a Powerball ticket,” the auto mechanic told Lottery officials. “But, standing in line, I decided to play a few instant tickets.”
The 25-year-old was shocked when he revealed the top-prize win on the $20 Money Multiplier game. “I wasn’t completely sure it was really a $1 million win, so I didn’t react,” he said. “I didn’t want to say anything to anyone until I was sure.”
He did share the news with his uncle, a long-time Lottery player, the next day. The pair visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the ticket. They learned that it was indeed legitimate and the million-dollar prize was real. With that confirmation, our winner let himself start thinking of ways to spend his prize. “I thought about all kind of things, but kept coming back to a home,” he said, “buying a house.”
He plans to take care of his winnings. “I know how fortunate I am, how amazing this is. It’s important to me that I take good care of my winnings, that I get the most out of it that I can for me and for my family.”
For selling the winning ticket, the Edgewood Sunoco at 1811 Edgewood Road will receive a $1,000 retailer bonus.
