Wins $50,000 Money Multiplier prize
Carlos Benavides was playing the role of a patient husband while his wife finished her shopping trip last Saturday. As the 26-year-old waited with his uncle, the duo decided to duck into a nearby store to buy a few scratch-offs. Luck was on Carlos’ side when he scratched a Money Multiplier ticket to reveal a $50,000 top prize.
Carlos, a construction manager, admits that he isn’t a regular Lottery player. “My uncle convinced me to play, so we both bought two $20 Money Multiplier tickets,” he said.
The two went back to the car to scratch the tickets when they discovered the big win. Feeling good about his good fortune, Carlos decided to play a trick on his wife. “I sat the ticket on her seat and, when she returned from shopping,” he smirked. “She saw the ticket and screamed. She was so happy.”
The lucky player, who just purchased his first home in November, plans to save the majority of the prize money for a rainy day and share a little with his uncle. Carlos also told Lottery officials that the win comes just a couple days before his four-year-old son’s birthday and that it will be an extra special celebration for his son on Tuesday. The winning ticket was purchased at TJ Beer and Liquor located at 7669 New Hampshire Avenue in Tacoma Park.
