This happy Pennsylvania couple won $10,020 playing Keno at a friend’s birthday gathering in Parkton.

Birthday celebration leads to lucky game

A trip across the state line to attend a friend’s 50th birthday celebration in Parkton put a York, Pa., couple in the right place at the right time to win a $10,020 Keno prize.

“It was a good day,” said the wife. The couple and others in the July 3 birthday party group at the Maryland Line Inn Bar & Grill in Baltimore County began playing Keno while at the party. Here and there, people in their group won small amounts, they said.

The happy Pennsylvania pair bought a six-spot ticket with the numbers 15, 39, 43, 44, 57 and 75 – all chosen at random – and played the numbers for five games. Then, they added the Super Bonus to their ticket, which boosted the amount of their prize.

“It was just our day,” she said.

The happy players took the ticket home and kept it in a safe place until they could come to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to collect their prize. They plan to pay bills with their big win.

For selling a winning Keno ticket with a prize of at least $10,000, Maryland Line Inn Bar & Grill receives a bonus of $100.20 from the Lottery – equal to 1 percent of the prize value. The lucky Parkton retailer is located at 21336 York Road.
