Peppermint Payout Scratch-off Gives $30,000 Score to Salisbury Player

She wins first top prize on $3 holiday-themed ticket

A player from Salisbury ran into a bit of good luck when she bought a $3 holiday scratch-off and scored the game’s first $30,000 top prize. The 66-year-old anonymous player, who has private plans for her prize, claimed the newfound fortune at Lottery headquarters this week.

Not to worry, however, another seven top prizes remain unclaimed on the Peppermint Payout instant ticket, which went on sale Oct. 18 for the 2021 holiday season. In addition to Peppermint Payout, the Maryland Lottery is offering four more holiday scratch-offs: $1 Holiday Cheer with a top prize of $1,000; $2 Cookies and Cash with a top prize of $10,000; $5 Holiday Riches with a top prize of $50,000 and $10 Gold with a top prize of $100,000.

Enter those non-winning holiday scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards to qualify for a second-chance contest with weekly cash drawings. Each week, five players win $2,500 each and another five are selected for a final drawing of $25,000.

Sharing in the Eastern Shore player’s luck is Lottery retailer Wetcher Whistle located at 1220 Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury. The Wicomico County store picks up a bonus of $300 from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, with the bonus amount equal to 1 percent of the prize.
