Claims $30,000 top prize on scented game
Was it the sweet smell of victory or the sweet smell of her scented Peppermint Payout Multiplier scratch-off that carried a $30,000 top prize? Either way, Nohemy Orellana Iraheta of Glen Burnie cried tears of joy after learning of her sweet win.
The 42-year-old Honduran native found her lucky holiday scratch-off at Tobacco Etc. in Glen Burnie, where she plays Lottery games twice a week. The Anne Arundel County resident went in to make a non-Lottery purchase on the day she bought her winning game. While there, Nohemy realized that she had $6 to spare and invested in the $3 scratch-off.
“Oh my gosh!” Nohemy said, recalling her surprise when she revealed her $30,000 prize. “I just started crying, I was so happy.” Her younger sister Senia also wept with joy after hearing the great news. Nohemy shared the story of her good fortune with other members of her family, including her three children, and plans to use her prize to help family members financially.
Her lucky Lottery retailer, Tobacco Etc, gets to share in the fun, too. The Anne Arundel County retailer located at 7900 Ritchie Highway will receive a $300 bonus for selling a $30,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
The Peppermint Payout Multiplier scratch-off has three $30,000 top prizes remaining. The game is one of five holiday scratch-offs that players can enter into the Holiday Cash & Dash Second-chance Promotion. The final drawing deadline is Jan. 13. Players enter non-winning holiday scratch-offs through their My Lottery Rewards account for the chance to win over $500,000 in cash prizes or $300 worth of scratch-offs or the warehouse dash trip to Chicago. Warehouse dash winners get to race through a prize warehouse with a shopping cart, loading it up with as many prizes as possible in 90 seconds.
