Perfect Storm and Lucky Numbers Net Glen Burnie Man $50,000 Prize

Wins Bonus Match 5 prize with lucky numbers

A Glen Burnie man was hurriedly preparing for the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy. He made sure to pick up the essentials:  supplies like food, water and a Bonus Match 5 ticket with his lucky numbers. While watching the news on the storm closures last Monday morning, he learned that his last-minute Lottery purchase won him a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize from the October 28 drawing.

“I’ve come close to hitting the jackpot several times,” he said.  The numbers he played are comprised of birthdates, the Super Bowl won by his favorite football team, and two dates that bookended what he could only describe as the best weekend of his life.  As he watched the storm coverage and saw his lucky numbers scroll across the screen, he said, “It was like a dream.”

The lucky man said the only inconvenience was being stranded home with the winning ticket. “It felt good getting the ticket out of the house,” he explained. Until he arrived at Lottery headquarters he kept news of the win quiet and hid the ticket in his Bible.  “This win came at a great time. What a Godsend,” the 54-year-old esaid.

The winning ticket was purchased at Champion Liquors on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.
