Persistence Pays Off For Glen Burnie Scratch-off Winner

Longtime Lottery player takes home final $30,000 Loteria prize

200-Loteria-ITVMA loyal Maryland Lottery player from Glen Burnie won the biggest scratch-off prize of his life last week and all it took was persistence. A $30,000 win is worth the wait!

Lottery luck came his way on Oct. 28. While driving to work, the maintenance supervisor stopped at his favorite Lottery retailer, Linthicum Market in Linthicum, to purchase more Loteria scratch-offs.

“I stop there every day on my way to work, and I was going to stay with that ticket,” he said. “I didn’t want to give up.”

The Anne Arundel County resident had bought seven of the $3 tickets without winning anything. Then, he discovered a $3 win. It’s a good thing he didn’t give up at that point because his final purchase of two more scratch-offs delivered the last of Loteria’s $30,000 top prizes. When he realized he’d won $30,000, he quickly alerted his wife.

“I called her from work,” he said. “She was pretty happy.”

The 61-year-old is a daily Pick 3 and Pick 4 player and recently won $500 on a Pick 3 drawing. His Loteria win is by far his biggest Lottery prize. His previous bests were a pair of $2,500 Pick 4 wins about 10 years ago.

The prize will help pay for exterior home improvements and furniture for the house he and his wife recently purchased. Linthicum Market is a winner as well. The retailer located at 421 South Camp Meade Road will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket. Loteria launched in February with five $30,000 top prizes – all of which have now been claimed. The last date to claim other Loteria prizes is April 21, 2016.
