Wins with Neon x20 game
A 54-year-old pest elimination company worker who handles everything from rodents to bedbugs on the job just picked up his first five-figure creature – a $20,000 winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off!
The Finksburg resident, who occasionally buys scratch-offs with his spare change from purchases, was in Hampstead when he found Lottery luck waiting at the Jiffy Mart located at 1155 South Main Street. The father of one plays Powerball and Mega Millions when the jackpots reach $100 million, but usually sticks to instant tickets as his Lottery game of choice. With the jackpot games below his threshold, he looked to the scratch-offs for entertainment.
“If it’s change left over from a purchase, I typically spend it on a bunch of $1 tickets,” he said. On this evening, however, the Carroll County resident decided to try his luck with a $10 instant ticket. He selected the lucky Neon x20 game and headed home from a long day at work.
“Usually, I take them home and they lay on the kitchen counter,” he said. After dinner, he’ll spot the ticket and scratch it off. That’s exactly what happened with his winning ticket except he realized he’d won something.
“At first, I set it down and I said, ‘That can’t be right.’” After researching the game on the Lottery website, the lucky player realized the size of his prize.
The happy man plans to pay bills with his windfall and buy a new laptop computer to replace his broken one. Oh, and he’ll probably “donate some of this back to the Lottery,” he said, smiling.
There are still plenty of lucky tickets left in this game, which has three $100,000 top prizes awaiting discovery along with three more $20,000 winning tickets.
