Physician Finds Healthy $50,000 Scratch-off Win

“Big Winner” of Laurel is celebrating her $50,000 Ravens scratch-off win.

Lucky $5 Ravens game delivers big surprise for Laurel resident

A physician who routinely stops for gas at Langley Park Exxon has often seen customers busily scratching off Maryland Lottery instant tickets. Until very recently, she hadn’t bought a ticket. But her spur-of-the moment decision to try a $5 game from the retailer’s instant ticket vending machine gave the scratch-off novice a $50,000 surprise!

On the day she crossed paths with Lottery luck, the Laurel resident and mother of one bought a Ravens instant ticket on a whim. When the astonished woman revealed the $50,000 prize, the “Big Winner” was still in the gas station. The 41-year-old quietly took the scratch-off up to the counter and asked a clerk to verify that she had won.

“I didn’t really believe it,” she said. The excited clerk told “Big Winner” that she had to claim her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. She went home and shared her great news with her husband and brother. Her next day off found the lucky lady in the Lottery Winner’s Circle after happily claiming her prize.

“Big Winner” plans to save her prize for now. To try your Lottery luck at her winning retailer, visit Langley Park Exxon at 1348 University Boulevard in Prince George’s County.
