Claims $10,000 Powerball Prize
A broken camera led to a third-tier Powerball win for an Ijamsville man. The sixty-two-year-old Lottery player went to get a passport picture taken, but the camera was broken. That’s when he decided to go next door and purchase a few Lottery tickets. Among the tickets he bought was a winning Powerball ticket for $10,000.
The retired Sally Mae employee typically plays the same numbers, but hardly ever matches. So when he looked up the Powerball winning numbers for last Saturday he was pleasantly surprised. “I thought, ‘how did the Lottery know my numbers’,” he said laughing. “Then it sunk in that four of my numbers and the Powerball actually matched.” He looked up the amount that he’d won and shared the good news with his wife, who accompanied him to Lottery Headquarters today to claim his $10,000 prize.
The couple plans to use some of the winnings towards their daughter’s upcoming wedding. The winning ticket was purchased at Mt. Airy Liquors located at 413 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.
