Pikesville retiree John Jagoda scratched his way to a $10,000 Million Dollar Spectacular prize!

Takes home $10,000 prize on Million Dollar Spectacular scratch-off

John Jagoda of Pikesville followed his regular weekend routine recently with very unusual – and enriching – results. He went grocery shopping at Giant #159 in Pikesville and, after shopping, purchased some scratch-offs in the store. He sat down to enjoy some Maryland Lottery fun and games and that’s when the routine went right out of his day.

While scratching a $20 Million Dollar Spectacular instant ticket, John noticed that he matched one number for $5,000! He was pretty happy about it.

“I saw I won $5,000 and thought that was good and was glad I could cash it at a Lottery retailer,” said the 73-year-old. “I finished scratching, saw another $5,000 for a total of $10,000 and I was even happier.”

His recent visit to Lottery headquarters to claim his $10,000 scratch-off prize was not John’s first trip. Twelve years ago, the Baltimore County resident won a trip to London on the Lottery’s Big Ben’s Bucks scratch-off. He and his wife celebrated their 30th anniversary overseas, thanks to the Lottery.

Although John hasn’t decided what he’ll spend this win on, he has shared the news with his wife and two children. The retired federal government worker will also continue playing Lottery scratch-offs.

The Giant store where John purchased his Million Dollar Spectacular ticket is located at 3757 Old Court Road in Pikesville. The scratch-off is loaded with unclaimed prizes including two more $1 million top prizes, five $50,000 winning tickets and 22 $10,000 tickets.
