Pittsville Man Claims $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Prize

Bonus Match 5A few days after Christmas, a Pittsville man received a belated holiday gift. The infrequent Lottery player bought one Bonus Match 5 ticket and the Quick Pick play resulted in a $50,000 win.  Admittedly nonchalant about his good fortune, the 66-year-old retired manager expressed little emotion, saying, “I thought, ‘great, but there were no bells and whistles.”

He bought the ticket on a whim and checked it the next day while eating breakfast. Later that evening he told his wife that they were $50,000 richer. Her response was similarly calm. “He doesn’t play very often so I just thought he was joking,” said his happy spouse, who accompanied him to Lottery headquarters.

The laidback twosome said that they will continue their occasional Lottery play and intend to use their winnings to pay down some bills. The winning ticket was purchased at Crossroads Food Mart, located at 2601 Old Ocean City Rd. in Salisbury.
