Plane Delay Gives Lottery Winners Extended Trip with the Ravens

Team treats Lottery fans to big win in Green Bay

Maryland Lottery and Gaming has been awarding Ravens away trips to lucky winners for nine straight years. Each trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, although this year’s excursion to Green Bay was a little more memorable than most.

Following the Ravens 23-0 shutout win over the Packers, the team and the Lottery winners headed to the airport for their flight home. After boarding the plane and preparing for takeoff, the pilot announced that there was a mechanical problem and a new plane would be have to brought in for the flight home. Typically, a delayed flight is seen as an annoyance, but to these 10 Lottery winners and their guests, the delay added extra opportunities to spend time with Ravens players.

The weekend began on Saturday when the winners and guests flew on the team plane. Once at the hotel in Wisconsin, a meet and greet with surprise players was held. Eric Weddle and Tony Jefferson talked with the winners, took photos and signed autographs.

The next morning, with temperatures in the teens, the group headed to the stadium where another big surprise awaited. Prior to the game, the winners and guests watched pre-game activities from the sidelines. Just before heading to their seats, local celebrity Cal Ripken, Jr. appeared on the sidelines. Some winners even took pictures with the Orioles’ great.

The group left for the airport immediately following the game, but a flight delay led to an epic unplanned meet and greet. During the four hour wait for the new plane, the group had conversations and took pictures with John Harbaugh, Terrell Suggs, Justin Tucker, Brandon Williams and more.

After a weekend of up-close Ravens encounters, world-class hospitality and most of all a crucial team win — a great time was had by all!
