Gwynn Oak Woman Wins $40,000 on 5 Times the Money Scratch-Off
The prospect of winning big money was not the big reason for the 73-year-old player’s scratch-off purchase. The winner of the 5 Times the Money top prize said that fun was the motivator when she bought her tickets over two weeks ago. “It’s just fun,” said the widowed mother-of-two and grandmother-of-four. “I never expected to win.”
The woman, who was accompanied by her son to claim her prize, won $10 playing 5 Times the Money and decided to use her winnings to buy two more of the same. “I like that ticket,” she said. “I took them home with me and didn’t scratch them until later that evening.”
When she finally played the ticket, she revealed her $40,000 prize. An Instructional Assistant in Baltimore County for 31 years, the recently retired winner couldn’t believe her good fortune. “I was happy, but I didn’t get too excited,” she said. “I showed the ticket to my son and told him it would be our secret.”
She then repeated that she buys scratch-offs to have a good time, but added that she could use the money. She intends to share her new-found wealth with her children and fix some things at her house.
The winning ticket was purchased at the T & T Liquors, located at 8622 Liberty Rd. in Randallstown.
