Buys winning tickets at same Brunswick retailer only months apart
A 53-year-old daily Bonus Match 5 player is in disbelief after hitting the top prize on his favorite game twice, just two months apart almost to the exact day. Earl Summers of Brunswick is walking away with his second $50,000 top prize on a quick-pick ticket.
The first time Earl found Lottery luck was Nov. 29, Thanksgiving Eve. His wife April purchased the game for him because Earl was too tired to go himself. The construction worker was shocked to see that he matched all the numbers drawn that night. Shortly after, he claimed the $50,000 prize and shared his story with Maryland Lottery officials.
So, what could top winning that $50,000 prize just in time for the holidays? How about winning it again with a ticket purchased at the very same Lottery retailer, Jerry’s Liquors in Brunswick!
“I must be the luckiest man in the world,” said Earl. “This is just unbelievable.”
The Frederick County man won his latest prize on Friday, Jan. 26. When he checked the winning numbers in the game, his jaw dropped.
“How does this happen twice,” he said, smiling. “I gave my wife the ticket to check to make sure it was true.” She confirmed the win for her awestruck husband.
“This just can’t be real,” April said. “We are still in disbelief.”
Back in November, the ecstatic winner was all for spending his prize on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a cruise. He never got that Harley but the cruise is still on the horizon. The father of three grown children now has a new plan for his additional winnings. He and April plan to put the prize toward a new home.
Also a winner – again – is Jerry’s Liquors located at 30 Petersville Road in Brunswick. The Frederick County Lottery retailer earned a second $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket in the game.
