Player claims Fantasy 5s game’s top prize
An infrequent scratch-off player from Prince George’s County can enjoy a bountiful holiday this year after winning $50,000 on a Fantasy 5s scratch-off.
The Laurel man racked up a series of prizes on the $5 instant ticket. He collected $1,000 in one of the three games in the play area and then another $49,000 in prizes in the third game. After purchasing the scratch-off at Laurel Plaza Liquors, the 40-year-old was excited to discover his Lottery luck but didn’t let anyone there know what just happened. He quietly left the store and went to a nearby bar to sign the back of the scratch-off so no one else could claim his prize.
Before this win, his biggest prize was $1,500 won in a Mega Millions drawing a few years ago. The lucky player plans to put the winnings toward buying a house, building his retirement fund and sharing some of the windfall with his son.
The Fantasy 5s scratch-off went on sale Nov. 16 and is packed with prizes. Players can hunt for six more $50,000 top prizes, 11 $5,000 prizes and more than 975,000 other prizes of $5 to $1,000.
Our winner found his lucky scratch-off at Laurel Plaza Liquors located at 9626 Fort Meade Road in Laurel. The Prince George’s County store will receive a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning scratch-off.
