Player Scores $50,000 Home Run with Baseball-Themed Scratch-off

Danielle Williams of Dundalk hit big when she scratched-off a $50,000 prize in the Home Run Riches game.

A Baltimore County player who “itched” for a big Maryland Lottery win scratched her way to relief with a series of Home Run Riches instant tickets. One lucky scratch-off gave Danielle Williams of Dundalk the game’s $50,000 top prize.

Her phenomenal win, said the 37-year-old, came about because the loyal player “got the itch” to scratch her way to big prize. She walked to the Merritt BP Car Wash store to purchase two Home Run Riches instant tickets and scratched them in the store, winning $10. The scratch-off fan pressed her luck, using the $10 prize to buy another round of the $5 baseball-themed instant ticket. She hit it out of the park with her second batch of instant tickets. One scratch-off appeared to deliver a $50,000 prize and she confirmed her win using the store’s ticket checker!

Overcome with emotion, the shocked player quietly absorbed the magic moment. “I had a wave of goosebumps,” Danielle said. After collecting herself and signing the back of her winning scratch-off, she made her way home.

Danielle didn’t sleep well that night and spent the next day researching her ideas for ways to enjoy her prize. “I want to give my children everything I’ve never had, including a house,” she said. To achieve that goal, Danielle plans to use her Lottery prize to pay off her bills and improve her credit rating.

She found her home-run scratch-off hit at the Baltimore County business located at 800 Merritt Boulevard in Dundalk. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the $5 game, the store earns a $500 retailer bonus.

Also a bonus is the second-chance contest in this season’s game. Players can enter their non-winning Home Run Riches scratch-offs through My Lottery Rewards to try to win cash as Contestant of the Game for an upcoming Orioles game. Upcoming deadlines to enter the second-chance drawings are July 23 and Aug. 27.
