Loyal Maryland Lottery player wins top prize on $100,000 Richer game
Attention to detail paid off for the latest player to claim a top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s $100,000 Richer scratch-off game.
Our winner, a 53-year-old federal government employee, said he plays Lottery games regularly. Until now, his largest win was $1,000. But his careful selection of a scratch-off earned him a $100,000 prize.
The Essex resident said he picks his games by consulting mdlottery.com and using the free MD Lottery Mobile App to find out which scratch-offs still have large prizes left to win.
“I watch the prize updates and try to play the probabilities,” he said. “I looked at this game and saw that two of the six top prizes were still out there and then I looked at the number of tickets that had been sold.”
The Baltimore County resident bought 10 $100,000 Richer tickets on April 16 at the Krauszer’s Food Store located at 321 Stemmers Run Road in Baltimore. At home the next morning, he had no luck when he scratched the first two $10 tickets. But the third one was the charm!
“I was shocked and happy … I called my mom and told her,” he said.
The lucky winner said he plans to use the money to pay some bills, but has no special plans beyond that. He does, however, have seven more tickets to scratch!
For selling the top-prize ticket, Krauszer’s Food Store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. Feeling lucky? One of the game’s six top prizes has not yet been claimed and there are three unclaimed $10,000 prizes awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers.
