Poolesville Retailer Sells $50,000-Winning Powerball Ticket

Player bought lucky ticket in April 28 drawing

Heads up, Powerball players! Someone bought a $50,000 winning ticket in the April 28 drawing at a Poolesville Lottery retailer.

The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky player who bought a ticket at MOAB / Poolesville Crown located at 17700 Elgin Road in Montgomery County. The winning numbers were 16, 18, 35, 39 and 53; the Powerball was 21.

Lottery officials encourage all Maryland winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. Winners typically get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

The $50,000 winner can claim the prize by mail, in person by appointment or by dropping off the claim form and winning ticket at Maryland Lottery headquarters, 1800 Washington Blvd., Baltimore. This year, the state has now had 21 third-tier $50,000 Powerball winners. The April 28 Powerball drawing produced a total of 13,044 winning tickets in Maryland, ranging from $4 to $50,000.

Winners of smaller prizes can claim them by mail, at Lottery retailers, at casinos, by appointment at Lottery headquarters or by dropping off a completed claims form and the winning ticket in the dropbox at Lottery headquarters. Get details on how to claim by mail here, how to schedule an appointment here, via the dropbox here (see last paragraph) and at Lottery retailers and casinos here.

The Powerball jackpot has rolled to $129 million for the May 1 drawing with a cash option of $89.6 million. The last time the jackpot was hit came in the March 27 drawing, when a ticket sold in Florida won a $235 million annuity ($160 million cash value).

Watch televised Powerball drawings at 11:22 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays on WBAL-TV.
