Superfecta Wheel bet brings his biggest prize ever
Heads up, Perry Hall residents! If your U.S. Postal Service worker drives by with a big grin in coming weeks, ask if he just enjoyed his very own special delivery. The lucky man’s $34 Racetrax Superfecta Wheel bet delivered a $29,698.10 Maryland Lottery win!
The Baltimore City resident turned up at Lottery headquarters soon after it opened to claim his prize and then headed right out to work his route. His customers and co-workers had no idea that his lucky ticket was riding along with him all week as he traveled through neighborhoods delivering letters, bills and magazines.
Only his wife knows – and will know – that his lucky numbers delivered the prize on a Racetrax ticket bought one night at E-Z Convenience in Towson. Rather than stay and watch the 10 races that night, the 60-something husband went home.
“The next morning, I checked it,” he said, and realized his ticket was a winner. “I didn’t know how much it was.” He returned to the store and learned from the clerk that his win was so large he had to pick a day to make Lottery headquarters the first stop on his route to work.
A loyal player since the Lottery began, the happy winner said he plays the same lucky numbers for all of his terminal and monitor games and counts this as his biggest personal win – so far! As for spending the prize, he plans to leave that decision to his wife.
The lucky Towson retailer that sold him the ticket also wins. E-Z Convenience located at 8104 Loch Raven Boulevard will receive a $296 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket over $10,000.
