Power Play Triples Bethesda Resident’s Powerball Prize

Wins $150,000 in Feb. 17 drawing

Adding the Power Play multiplier feature to a Powerball ticket paid off handsomely for a Montgomery County resident. A $15 ticket in the Feb. 17 drawing returned a $150,000 prize to the player, who used sets of personal numbers to find the big win.

The 35-year-old bought the ticket on the night of the drawing at Giant #327 located at 7142 Arlington Road in Bethesda. On one line, the player matched four numbers and the Powerball for a $50,000 third-tier win. By adding the Power Play multiplier, the Bethesda resident tripled the prize to $150,000. Nationally, four players won the third-tier prize in the Feb. 17 drawing. The Lottery has seen 14 third-tier Powerball winners so far in 2020.

No one hit the Powerball jackpot that night and it is still growing. Players can try to win $155 million in tonight’s drawing. The cash option is $106.5 million.
