Powerball Delivers Three Big Wins in Frederick

Dec. 16 drawing produces two $50,000 winners and a $100,000 winner with Power Play

Three Maryland Powerball players can shout with glee after the Wednesday, Dec. 16 drawing. Two tickets worth $50,000 and another ticket worth $100,000 were sold in Frederick. Even though no one hit the jackpot, a total of 18,991 Maryland Powerball players won prizes in the Dec. 16 drawing; 2,800 of those added the Power Play option to their ticket and doubled their prizes.

The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky players who bought the trio of third-tier winning tickets. A ticket sold at FSK News at 5500 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick added the Power Play option, which multiplied the base $50,000 prize to $100,000. Two tickets each worth $50,000 were sold at Sheetz #242 at 1600 Rosemont Avenue in Frederick.

The winning numbers in the drawing were 4, 23, 37, 61 and 67; the Powerball was 7 and the Power Play multiplier was x2.

Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in safe locations. Winners typically get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

These third-tier Powerball winners can claim their prizes by mail or in person by appointment at the Lottery headquarters’ Customer Resource Center located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. Winners of smaller prizes can claim them by mail, at Lottery retailers or by appointment at Lottery headquarters. Get details on how to claim by mail here, how to schedule an appointment here and how to cash prizes of up to $5,000 at Lottery retailers here.

There’s plenty of time to buy tickets to join the ongoing chase for the Powerball jackpot. The jackpot rolled to $304 million for the Saturday, Dec. 19 drawing with a cash option of $236 million.

This year, before the Dec. 16 drawing, the state had 37 third-tier $50,000 winners. The last Powerball jackpot win was for $94.8 million in the Sept. 16 drawing, with the winning ticket sold in New York.
