Drawing creates one $100,000 Maryland winner and two dozen $50,000 winners
Calling all Powerball players! Check your tickets closely because even though no one in Maryland hit the world-record jackpot in the Wednesday, Jan. 13 drawing, we had three $1 million winners, one $100,000 winner, 24 $50,000 winners and more than 560,000 winners statewide.
Congrats to all of our winners! The winning numbers were 4, 8, 19, 27 and 34; the Power Ball was 10 and the Power Play multiplier was 2.
Lucky players in three states will share the $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot or can share the cash option of $983.5 million. The three winning jackpot tickets were sold in California, Florida and Tennessee.
Here in Maryland, we’re looking for the lucky players who bought second-tier $1 million winning tickets at three locations: the 7-Eleven #36480 at 4907 Annapolis Road in Bladensburg, the Walker Mill Amoco at 6701 Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights and Wawa #8505 at 5440 Urbana Pike in Frederick. These three Maryland tickets were among 81 tickets from around the country that matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing to capture the $1 million second-tier prize.
Nationally, more than 26 million Powerball tickets were winners. Maryland saw 561,297 players win prizes ranging from the $1 million second-tier win down to $4. Marylanders who paid an extra $1 to add Power Play to the 33,598 tickets saw their prize doubled.
For selling these three tickets, the retailers will receive a $2,500 bonus. Winners have 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location until the players can claim their prizes.
