$100,000 birthday week win is twice as nice for Clinton man
A new car and a weekend birthday weren’t the only reasons a former federal worker had an extra bounce in his step this week. The lucky Prince George’s County man is also celebrating a $100,000 Powerball win in the July 26 drawing.
The 76-year-old won a $50,000 prize when he matched four numbers and the Powerball on his quick-pick ticket from Tuckers Liquors in Clinton. The lucky windfall doubled to $100,000 because he added the game’s optional Power Play feature; the multiplier for that Wednesday drawing was 2.
The lucky Clinton resident said he discovered the win on Thursday, when he scanned the ticket while visiting a Lottery retailer. When told his ticket was a winner, the happy player messaged a photo of the ticket to his family. He was initially unsure how much he had won, but soon his phone was ringing away with calls from family members congratulating him on his good fortune.
The retiree plans to use the funds from his astounding win to pay off bills and may use a portion for an upcoming trip.
