Prince George’s County Retiree Hits It Big

Wins $30,000 Playing Twisted Treasures Game

Twisted TreasuresMaryland Lottery scratch-off fan La Curtis Coles of Clinton has won small amounts on instant games for years but she always wanted to experience the thrill of a big win. She got her wish! The Prince George’s County resident tried the new Twisted Treasures scratch-off ticket and won $30,000!

Our lucky winner’s hunt for treasure paid off because she took a chance on this relatively new scratch-off ticket. The retired administrative assistant had stopped in at her favorite Lottery store to buy tickets when the Twisted Treasures game caught her eye. The scratch-off hit store shelves in June.

“I scratched it and looked at it again and asked the clerk to check the ticket,” she said. “He told me I’d have to cash it at Lottery headquarters, that it was a $30,000 winner.” It took her a few minutes to comprehend what had just happened, our winner said, but she recovered from the shock and began celebrating with the store’s staff.

“They know me pretty well there,” she said. “We were all excited.”

La Curtis plans to pay off several medical bills with her winnings. She will let her husband and daughter help decide the best use for the rest of her good fortune. Want to follow in her footsteps? Maryland Lottery luck found her at Tucker’s Liquors at 8100 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton.
