Prince George’s County Woman Fills Tank, Bank Account

Wins $50,000 playing Bingo Plus scratch-off

Stopping for gas at Riverdale Tiger Mart this past weekend, a retired federal employee decided that the coming seven days would be a Maryland Lottery game-playing week. The $50,000 top-prize scratch-off win that resulted from her decision proves this is one grandmother with impeccable timing.

“I was paying for the gas when I saw the Lottery tickets in the store,” said the 60-year-old Brentwood resident. A Bingo Plus scratch-off game that caught her eye wound up going home with her and delivering the game’s first of seven $50,000 prizes.

“I kept looking at it, not accepting what my eyes were seeing,” she said. “I finally called my son and sent him a picture of the ticket, just to be sure I wasn’t imagining things.”

The Prince George’s County winner has no specific plans for her prize, but she’s sure that her grandkids will be on the receiving end of whatever fun it brings. “I’m going to be the stereotypical grandmother, spoiling the little ones rotten.”

Bingo Plus hit the shelves of Lottery retailers in Maryland late last month. The $5 game still has plenty of prizes remaining, including a dozen $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000.

For those who believe that Lottery lightning can strike twice in the same place, pay a visit to the Riverdale Tiger Mart at 6117 Baltimore Avenue in Riverdale. The lucky retailer is truly winner, too, earning a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game.
