Queen Anne’s Woman Wins Ultimate “Bonus”

Wins $30,000 Bonus 3s Scratch-off Prize

Bonus 3sSporting a purple shirt in honor of Purple Friday, a Stevensville woman came into Lottery headquarters anxious to turn in a winning scratch-off ticket. A spur of the moment shopping trip netted the woman a $30,000 top prize on the Bonus 3s ticket.

The woman, who avoids driving over the Bay Bridge by herself, waited until one of her daughters could drive her into Baltimore. “I knew I had to claim before the long weekend,” she said. “I was a nervous wreck holding onto my ticket. The minute I knew how much it was worth, I put it into a plastic bag to keep it safe.”

The 59-year-old woman had purchased a handful of scratch-offs earlier in the week, hopeful that one would be a winner. “I always buy the $1, $2, $3 and Ravens Cash Fantasy scratch-offs,” she said. “I’ve always had luck with the lower priced tickets. A couple years ago I won $10,000.”

Instead of splurging on something fancy, the mother-of -two has plans to pay off her bills and invest the rest into several CDs. “What people don’t realize is how fast the money can get spent. It’s important that I do the smart thing and save for the future,” she told Lottery officials. The winning ticket was sold at Food Lion #1313 at 300 Thompson Creek Mall in Stevensville.
