Quick-Pick Play Gives Millersville Man $50,000 Powerball Prize

Buys lucky ticket in Sept. 25 drawing

A Millersville husband and wife stopped at Maryland Lottery headquarters this week to quietly cash in their $50,000 winning Powerball ticket and go on their way.

The 82-year-old Anne Arundel County man bought his $8 quick-pick ticket for the Sept. 25 drawing, which didn’t yield a jackpot winner but did give our player and 10 others around the country a $50,000 prize. He is one of 40 $50,000 Powerball winners in Maryland this year.

The happy Powerball player purchased his winning ticket at Northway Liquors located at 8101 Veterans Highway in Millersville. Asked if he had plans for his prize, the winner simply said he and his wife will have fun with their windfall. The retiree was also looking forward to taking his wife out to eat at their favorite seafood restaurant.

No one has hit the Powerball jackpot, which rolled to $70 million for the Saturday, Oct. 5 drawing. Non-winning Powerball tickets are also eligible for entry into the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year℠ second-chance promotion.

Players can try to win an exclusive three-night stay for two in Times Square from Dec 29, 2019 through Jan 1, 2020, two tickets to Radio City Music Hall, a dinner cruise around Manhattan and two tickets to an exclusive New Year’s Eve party with a view of the ball drop.
