Quick-Pick Purchase Gives Emmitsburg Man a $50,000 Powerball Prize

Frederick County resident claims third-tier prize in June 26 drawing

Lottery luck was waiting for a Powerball player from Emmitsburg who visited a local establishment, Paul’s Pit Stop, on a Friday night. He left with a red-hot quick-pick Powerball ticket that won a $50,000 third-tier prize in the June 26 drawing.

The anonymous 57-year-old bought the $10 ticket at the Frederick County retailer, which is located at 150 South Seton Avenue in Emmitsburg.

The winning numbers in the drawing were 08, 31, 39, 43, 60; the Powerball was 17. The player’s ticket matched the 8, 31, 39, 60 and Powerball of 17 for his big win.

The fortunate Frederick County resident is one of 32 Marylanders who have won $50,000 third-tier prizes in 2021. Players can try their luck, too, in the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, July 14. The jackpot has rolled to $137 million with a cash option of $98.3 million.

Maryland is home to three Powerball jackpot wins: $731.1 million in January 2021 (Lonaconing, Allegany County); $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County). In 2021, Maryland has had one $2 million Powerball winner and one $1 million winner.
