Grandfather’s Superfecta Box bet with Bonus pays $18,557.20 prize
The latest big winner in Racetrax has played the Maryland Lottery’s computer-animated horse racing game together with his buddy for years, but never before have the horses lined up quite like they did during one recent race.
The lucky man notched the biggest Lottery win of his life, taking home a prize of $18,557.20 that has the 76-year-old thinking about packing his suitcases and taking a vacation, he said with a smile.
Lottery luck met up with the winner and his pal while they were playing Racetrax at Jolly’s Food & Convenience Mart in Baltimore. The loyal player, who also enjoys playing Powerball and Mega Millions, placed a Superfecta Box bet that horses number 1, 9, 11 and 12 would finish in first through fourth place in any order – and they did! His prize also got a boost because he added the Bonus option to his ticket. His race had a 4x multiplier applied to any winning ticket with the Bonus feature.
The father of four, who also has four grandchildren, was watching the monitor when his horses won, he said. Without letting anyone know he was a big winner, the happy man and his friend quietly left the store and came to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize.
For selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the retailer will receive a bonus from the Lottery. The Baltimore city store, located at 1500 North Monroe Street, gets a bonus of $185.57 – equal to 1 percent of the prize.
