A loyal Maryland Lottery player from Fairfax, Va., had a massive return on a 10-cent Superfecta bet in the simulated horseracing game Racetrax. He won $64,729.50!
The 33-year-old player and his friend, who also works in construction, travel throughout the region to job sites. The two relax by playing various Lottery games: “Pick 3, Pick 4, Mega Millions, Powerball, you name it,” the winner said. On Nov. 28, they were in Frederick County and stopped by Sheetz #176 at 3842 Burkittsville Road in Knoxville to play Racetrax. The winner put down $48 for 20 draws using a Superfecta box bet on the high-odds horses 9, 10, 11 and 12. The horses crossed the finish line in perfect order!
The two friends said they hadn’t talked about what to do with the winnings and wouldn’t think about it until the paperwork is completed and the cash is in hand. “We’ve got to get it first,” the Fairfax man said.
Also in greener pastures is their lucky Lottery retailer. For selling a winning Racetrax ticket with a prize of $10,000 or more, Sheetz #176 picks up a bonus of $647.29, equal to 1 percent of the prize.
