Superfecta Box ticket with 10x Bonus pays $22,070
A jovial Reisterstown resident was all smiles as he visited Maryland Lottery headquarters just a couple of hours after winning a $22,070 Racetrax prize.
The lucky winner said the computer-animated, horse-racing simulation is his favorite Lottery game. The 69-year-old enjoys the camaraderie of watching the races on the monitors with other players. He typically plays once a month and April 29 turned out to be his lucky day. The retired law enforcement officer purchased several tickets at Pimlico Check Cashing in Randallstown and a single-draw Superfecta Box ticket with the Bonus feature did the trick.
The Baltimore County man played the 1, 3, 5 and 10 horses, boxing those numbers so he would win if they finished in any order in the top four. The horses galloped to a 10-1-5-3 finish and the race carried a 10x Bonus multiplier. His 50-cent bet on the race was good for a prize of $2,207. The 10x multiplier boosted that prize to $22,070, which is by far his largest win. His previous best was a $6,300 Racetrax prize won several years ago.
The winner, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, said he would have been happy even if the Bonus hadn’t raised the amount of the prize to such heights.
“I didn’t need a 10x Bonus, I wasn’t looking for that,” he said. “Really, I’m a simple man.”
He spends his retirement as a boxing trainer and enjoys giving back to the community. He plans to spend his prize on home improvements and, possibly, an anniversary present for his wife. The couple’s first anniversary is coming up soon.
Pimlico Check Cashing, located at 3538 Brenbrook Drive in Randallstown, is also a winner. For selling a Racetrax ticket worth at least $10,000, the retailer will receive a $220.70 bonus from the Lottery – equal to 1 percent of the prize value.
