Racetrax Horses Speed to a Win for Retired State Trooper

A retired Maryland State Police trooper received the perfect ticket this week — one with a $12,183 Racetrax prize attached! The Prince George’s County man saw his four horses gallop across the finish line in perfect order to deliver his big win.

The Racetrax regular found his Lottery luck when he stopped at Saraniya Fuel in Accokeek, a local gas station, on his way to the gym. He bought a ticket for 10 drawings and added the Bonus multiplier feature, betting that horses 4, 1, 6 and 9 would cross the finish line in that exact order. Our winner then went on with his morning routine, taking care of a few errands and stopping by a store he owns before heading back to the gas station to see if his Superfecta bet won a prize.

The lucky lawman plays other Lottery games, too, like Pick 3 and Pick 4. He plays Racetrax “pretty much every day” and often stops at this particular gas station because the owner is friendly. The Bonus multiplier for his winning game was 3 and his choice of winning numbers were inspired by a license plate he saw earlier that day. The winner said he always plays numbers that have a special meaning or connection to his life.

“I’m a very spiritual person, so any time I get a certain feeling from any set of numbers I come across, I try to play them,” he said. “Whenever I don’t, they always hit!”

While this is the biggest single Lottery prize the retiree has claimed, he is no stranger to winning. Just last month, the happy player landed four winning tickets with more than $10,000 in prizes. Being a bit of an entrepreneur, our mystery man plans to invest his Lottery windfall in his businesses.

The other winner in this story is Saraniya Fuel at 15797 Livingston Road in Accokeek. Because it sold a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, Saraniya Fuel will earn a $121.83 bonus from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
