Racetrax Trifecta Player Tunes up Finances during Vehicle Repairs

A Baltimore resident happily wheeled to a $22,517 Racetrax win while passing the time during a repair of his car and tires.

The mechanic estimated the repair work would take at least two hours. Rather than sit in the waiting room, the Lottery fan went across the street to Bel-Garden Bi-Rite Supermarket. He sat on a bench outside the store and, after realizing his long stay had attracted store employees’ notice, the senior citizen went inside to try his Lottery luck.

The 73-year-old placed a Trifecta wager for five drawings, each with the same numbers of 9, 11 and 12. He added the Bonus multiplier feature, too. On a Trifecta bet, the horses must finish in first, second and third place in the exact order as the bet. The Racetrax fan has won with these numbers before and hoped for a repeat performance.

By this time, his two-hour wait was up. Rather than watch the races, the lucky man returned to the repair shop, picked up his car and went home. He scanned his ticket on his Maryland Lottery smartphone app to see if any of the games won and saw an unusual message. Off he went to the Lottery retailer to scan his ticket for a win. He quickly realized he had scored his highest prize of $22,517 on his favorite game!

When asked what he plans to do with the windfall, the winner said he will buy something nice for his wife and his son and save the rest for future endeavors. Joining in the celebration is the grocery store where our winner passed his time. Bel-Garden Bi-Rite Supermarket on 5950 Belair Road in Baltimore earns a $225.17 bonus for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize. Congrats to both winners!
