Racetrax Win Allows Dad to Say Yes to Daughter’s Prom Dress

“Casino Driz” of Baltimore celebrates a $15,473 Racetrax win.

$15,473 prize will help her prom dreams come true

While he plays all of the Maryland Lottery’s games, a Baltimore man told Lottery officials that Racetrax has been his current favorite. The special events planner plays the computer-animated horseracing game three times a week. Even when he has no horse in the race, the loyal player keeps an eye on game results and waits for inspiration. When it arrived this week, he acted and won $15,473 with a Tri Box wager.

The lucky winner, nicknamed “Casino Driz,” already knows how he will use his windfall. “My daughter has her heart set on a certain prom dress,” he said. “I would have found a way without this win, but now she can have the dress plus every other thing she imagines for that night.”

“Casino Driz” is no stranger to Lottery luck, having learned that inspirations can pay off. “I never play on Tuesday, but the feeling was so strong,” he said. Perusing the day’s Racetrax results on the Lottery website, something struck the 37-year-old.

“I noticed the 10, 11 and 12 for some reason,” he said. “It’s not that they were winning a lot, but my eyes just went to them. I don’t know why.” A similar “feeling” about five years ago led him to pick out a $50,000 winning scratch-off. “I had already gotten home from work, but I couldn’t shake the feeling. So, I headed back out to find a Lottery store.”

He arrived at Dolfield Convenience Store in Baltimore and placed his bet. To cover his bases, the lucky man purchased a Tri Box ticket good for 20 games, giving him 20 chances for the 10, 11 and 12 horses to cross the finish line together. “I decided to watch a couple of races before heading home. First race – nothing. Second race – oh, my goodness.”

Our winner tried to keep his excitement under wraps. “That lasted about five seconds,” he said. “Casino Driz” couldn’t believe what had happened and didn’t know what to do. “I ran out of the place and then right back in. I looked at the results on the screen and at my ticket just to make sure. A minute later, all of the customers were congratulating me.”

The owners of Dolfield Convenience located at 3611 Dolfield Road in Baltimore can also celebrate. They earn a $154.73 bonus for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
