Racetrax Win Gives D.C. R&B Artist a $59,713.50 Boost

Lucky win at Brentwood store will help fund budding music career

An aspiring R&B artist from Washington D.C. is singing a sweeter tune this week, thanks to the Maryland Lottery. The lucky lady just visited the Lottery Winner’s Circle after placing a Racetrax Superfecta Box wager a few weeks ago. That wager paid off big, winning a $59,713.50 prize.

The 24-year-old player is a multitalented artist who is transitioning from an acting career to music. She now writes and produces her own music and videos. Earlier this year, she released a single with a video and soon plans to release her second single.

Although she resides in Washington, D.C., the lucky player said she and her father often come to Maryland to play the Lottery at their favorite store. Last week, she was alone but had her father on the phone as she placed a Superfecta Box wager. While finishing her conversation, out of the corner of her eye, she saw horses with some familiar numbers cross the finish line. Her four-horse combination finished in perfect order, winning a $59,713.50 prize. The odds of the win were just 1 in 55,203.

The player recalls feeling both shocked and excited when she confirmed the results using a Lottery ticket checker. “This is a blessing,” she said.

The prize will help her further her budding career, the winner said, and help pay recording studio costs. She also plans to share a portion of the windfall with her family.

Selling the winning ticket was AJ Liquors, located at 3801 Bladensburg Road in Brentwood. For selling a top-prize winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the lucky retailer earned a $597.13 bonus from the Lottery.
